Survival Skills & Co. began as a business specializing in Disaster Response training for schools in 1991 and has since trained well over 30,000 people, providing them with realistic solutions to disasters. They were the first to create a training program targeted specifically toward schools and as a result they have trained more schools in California than anyone else. That program has since been expanded to address the needs of business.
It all began when Wayne Bennett, a professional firefighter and Disaster Preparedness Coordinator, realized a need in the school community for a one-day training workshop on how to properly respond to a disaster. From that moment forward the commitment has been to develop, refine and perfect techniques and strategies that everyone can use. In addition to training they provide practical supplies that support their training. There is no fluff or waste in their kits, but rather items that can be used by your employees, friends and family in an emergency.
As a full time Fire Captain, Wayne responds to hundreds of emergencies each year. In addition to being a FEMA C.E.R.T instructor he is also a Certified CPR and First Aid instructor. His other training includes State Certified Fire Officer, California Specialized Training Institute for Earthquake Management, Terrorism Response, Urban Search & Rescue, Avalanche Rescue, High Angle Rope Rescue, Swift Water Rescue, Hazardous Materials and National Fire Academy Incident Command Training.
He has created the original "Disaster Response Guidebook" for Schools. He is currently working on "Disaster Survival Skills" the book.
